Open Letter: Response to the Abolition of NHS England – Transformation Opportunities for Local Government
By Sarah Warren, Former EHCP Plan Writer and Caseworker
At Agilisys, we have spent over a year working closely with Local Authorities to develop our AI EHC Plan writing tool, EHCP Plus. We would also very much like to focus on working with parents and carers to improve our tool and allay any fears parents may have about the use of AI.
As parents and carers, navigating the complexities of securing the right support for your child through their Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) can often feel overwhelming and slow. But with new innovations like Agilisys’ EHCP Plus, this process is set to change. AI tools are now helping to make the creation of EHCPs faster, more accurate, and perfectly tailored to each child’s unique needs.
AI technology can quickly analyse detailed reports about each child’s educational and care needs, making it easier to produce a plan that is both comprehensive and personalised. This means fewer errors, less time spent waiting for updates, and a more reliable plan overall. Further to this, it enables caseworkers to focus on important tasks such as communicating with families, liaising with schools and applying for school placements. This “human in the loop” approach ensures that caseworkers’ expertise is still integral to the process, enhancing outcomes for your child.
While it’s natural to have concerns about AI in sensitive areas like education, it’s important to know that the use of AI in EHCPs is safe, transparent, and safeguarded by data protection protocols. Additionally, AI-driven tools like EHCP Plus help Local Authorities address long-standing backlogs and reduce the delays families often face. By speeding up the drafting process, AI ensures that children get the support they need, when they need it.
